The East Bay Broadband Consortium bridges the digital divide by working with community organizations, local governments, and other partners across Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano counties to identify the barriers that keep communities from getting connected and transform the systems that shape digital access

What the Data Shows

  • 71,000 households across Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano County lack access to reliable, high speed internet at home.

  • 1 in 4 Oakland Unified School District students lack a reliable internet connection at home.

  • $83.60 per month is the average cost of an internet plan in CA

  • 4x more likely: Cost is four times more likely to be cited as a reason for not having home internet than any other individual reason.
